
Senior Executive Director – Global Energy SURBANA JURONG Group
Tan Wooi Leong is Senior Executive Director overseeing the Global Energy portfolio in Surbana Jurong Group and part of the Leadership Exco in SMEC, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJ Group. Concurrently, he serves as an active Committee member in Singapore’s Working Group Committee for Carbon Capture Utilization Sequestration CCUS Standards, Singapore Green Built Environment Advisory Council for Renewables and is the Vice President in the Hydrogen & Fuel Cells Association of Singapore. Wooi Leong also sits in the Board of Banyan Caverns Storage Services Company (a JV Co. operating the 1st underground storage caverns in Singapore) and the Low Carbon Technology (LCT) Industry Singapore Consortium.
Wooi Leong is a seasoned energy leader whom has led large scale energy infrastructure development such as petrochemicals, bulk energy storage, GW scale solar/wind/geothermal projects integrated with GWh scale energy storage system, intercontinental HV power transmission, underground storage caverns & infrastructure, specialized industrial clusters & buildings, floating infrastructure, hydrogen & ammonia specialist energy studies & advanced research activities in cryogenic energy, carbon capture & carbon utilization technologies. Utilizing his vast experience in the energy ecosystem, he has also developed energy transition & industrial decarbonization NZE roadmaps for industrial clusters in the United Kingdom, Malaysia (specifically Sarawak & Johor) & China, earning him several awards and accolades for his contribution to various engineering feats in Singapore and in the region.
He received a Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering degree under University scholarship from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He has also attended the General Management Program at Harvard Business School, Massachusetts, USA, and completed the Imperial College London - BCA: Executive Development Program on DfMA and IDD Leadership, London, and the SUTD-BCA Digital Technology Internationalization Program in China.
