Deputy Director, National Environment Agency
Kwok Wai Choong joined Singapore’s Ministry of the Environment in 1989 as an Operations Engineer, in a waste-to-energy (WTE) plant. He was later handpicked for the team that designed, constructed, commissioned, as well as operated Singapore’s WTE plants. Wai Choong also shared his expertise in overseas consultancy projects.
Wai Choong leads the Cluster Development Department in NEA that builds capabilities of the Environmental Services Industry under its Industry Transformation Map. The department helps companies grow local track records through adoption of innovative environmental technology in Singapore, that could eventually be adopted in foreign cities.
His Department also organizes the CleanEnviro Summit Singapore, which is held together with the Singapore International Water Week and World Cities Summit. The mega events attracted over 24,000 high level delegates and trade visitors from over 120 countries/regions in July 2018. The next integrated show will take place in April 2022 in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
